Why is it important to address specific past events when we tap?
If we still feel anxious, angry or sad, when we think of a certain event from our past, it means that we haven't completely processed our emotions connected to it. These unresolved emotions remain »stored« in our body as disruptions in our energy system. Over time, these disruptions accumulate and block the flow of energy in our body. This comes up as fear, anxiety, feeling powerless, tired, having headaches or other emotional and physical problems. Having unresolved emotions influences every aspect of our lives, how we behave, decisions we make, how we communicate, how we interact with other people, etc.
At an EFT session we look for past events that we still have a negative response to, we eliminate energy disturbances by tapping on certain accupuncture points and restore the body's energy balance.
You may be wondering how it's possible to eliminate negative responses to all past events that we've experienced in our lives, since there are so many. Fortunately, we usually only need to tap on a few of them, the ones that carry the strongest emotional charge and others then lose the charge as well. This is because there are similarities among these events and the relief we get from addressing a few events generalizes to other similar events as well. This is called the "generalization effect".
Tapping on specific events and eliminating disruptions connected to them has a freeing effect. People are often surprised by the positive changes in their lives it brings.
How can one recognize a disruption?
Do you feel tension in your body when you're scared? Do you cry when you're sad? Do you blush when you're embarrassed? Do you feel nausea, when you're nervous? Do you get a headache, when you're stressed?
All these symptoms are disruptions in your body's energy system.
