What are specific past events and why deal with them?
As we go through life, we have experiences that are less than pleasant and often we have an emotional reaction to them. Those emotional reactions are created by a disruption in the energy system.
If you still have a negative reaction to any event in your past, that means your body has stored that disruption. As time goes by, those stored disruptions start to accumulate, blocking the free flow of energy through the body's energy system (the meridians) and issues start to develop. With EFT we look for those past events that you still have a negative reaction to, and eliminate the energy disruptions, so the energy meridians can flow freely.
You may be worried that there are too many, maybe hundreds of events to address, but fortunately we usually need to address only a certain number of events that carry the strongest emotional charge, then the rest of the disruptions will simply fade on their own. This happens because there is a commonality among these events and the work we do on a few events "generalizes" over the rest of the related events. We call this the Generalization Effect.
Tapping on specific events and releasing the disruptions has a wonderful freeing effect and it often surprises people how greatly their lives change by doing so.
How can one recognize a disruption?
Do you feel tension in your body when you're scared? Do you cry when you're sad? Do you blush when you're embarrassed? Do you feel nausea, when you're nervous? Do you get a headache, when you're stressed?
All these symptoms are disruptions in your body's energy system.
